Biography

LAST SEASON | 2010-11 • Top scoring defenseman for Minnesota Golden Gophers with 24 points (6, 18a) and tied for third overall in team scoring. His 18 assists were tied for first. • Played alongside fellow Blues prospect Jay Barriball for all four years at University of Minnesota. CAREER 2009-10: Led team's defensemen in scoring for the second straight year and ranked fourth overall on the team while playing in all 39 games. Ranked second on the team with 10 power play points. Named to the all-tournament team at the Dodge Holiday Classic (1/2-3). 2008-09: Appeared in 35 of 37 games and ranked fourth nationally among defensemen in scoring with nine goals and 24 assists for 33 points. Named third-team All-American by Inside College Hockey. Shared the team lead with 16 power play points and ranked second on the team with 24 assists. Competed for the U.S. under-20 national team at the IIHF World Junior championships (12/26-1/3) for the second straight year. Had a goal and three assists in six games at the World Juniors and was the U.S. team's player of the game against Kazakhstan. 2007-08: Competed in 40 games and ranked second among team's defensemen in scoring with two goals and 13 assists for 15 points. Only Gopher player named to the WCHA All-Rookie team. Selected to the Inside College Hockey freshman All-American team. Scored 10 of his 13 points in the first 15 games of the season. Competed for the U.S. under-20 national team at the IIHF World Junior Championships in the Czech Republic (12/26-1/5), totaling one assist in the tournament. Early Career: Spent two seasons with the U.S. National Team Development Program in Ann Arbor, Mich. Helped the U.S. National Under-18 Team to the silver medal at the 2007 IIHF World Under-18 Championship in Sweden. Competed with the NTDP Under-17 Team in 2005-06, posting totals of 10-16--26 and 16 penalty minutes in 68 games.
