Biography
2011-12: Completed his final year of CHL eligibility with the Brandon Wheat Kings (WHL), serving as team captain for the first season, tallying a CHL career-high 123 points and establishing new major junior career highs in goals (41) and assists (82)… Led the Wheat Kings in assists and points for the second consecutive season… Missed six regular season games while representing Canada at the 2012 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in Albert … Ranked second among all WHL players in assists and in overall league scoring… Began the regular season recording at least one point in 14 consecutive games… Registered four points or more in eight regular season contests… Recognized as the WHL’s HUSKY Player of the Month for March… Named a WHL First Team all-star for the second consecutive season… Awarded the WHL’s Brad Hornung Trophy as the WHL’s Most Sportsmanlike Player and was later recognized as the Canadian Hockey League’ s Sportsman of the Year… Signed an entry-level contract with Ottawa (NHL) on Sept 19… Made his NHL debut in Game 5 of the Senators’ Eastern Conference quarter-final series against the New York Rangers on April 21 in New York and recorded an assists on Jason Spezza’s eventual game-winning goal.
