Wolves add d-man Matheson

The Chicago Wolves have signed defenseman Mark Matheson.

The 26-year-old defenseman appeared in 58 games with the Milwaukee Admirals last season and ranked fourth among team defensemen with 17 points (4G, 13A) during his third full pro campaign.  

He set a career high and shared fifth on the Admirals with 23 assists and ranked third among team defensemen with 25 points in a career-most 76 outings in 2008-09, which includes dishing out five assists in 10 games against the Wolves that season.

Overall, the Calgary native has appeared in 190 American Hockey League contests with the Admirals, spanning parts of four seasons (2006-2010), notching 46 assists, 52 points and 106 penalty minutes. He also competed in 26 Calder Cup playoff contests with Milwaukee, collecting six points (G, 5A) and 14 penalty minutes.

Prior to turning pro, Matheson spent four years at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst (Hockey East), where he tallied 20 goals, 29 assists, 49 points and 28 penalty minutes in 131 games from 2003 to 2007.
