Bears sign five to tryouts

The Hershey Bears announced today that the club has signed forwards Matt Carey, Jeremy Langlois, Taylor Cammarata and Andrew Cherniwchan, and defenseman Frankie Simonelli to professional tryout contracts.

Carey, 25, scored 21 goals and added eight assists for 29 points in 73 games with the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack last season. The fourth-year pro has totaled 33 goals and 21 assists in 161 career AHL games with Hartford, Iowa and Rockford.

Carey played two NHL games with the Chicago Blackhawks at the end of the 2013-14 season, tallying one goal.

Langlois, 27, notched eight goals and six assists in 66 AHL games with the Rockford IceHogs in 2016-17. He enters his fifth pro season with 38 goals and 40 assists for 78 points in 188 career AHL contests with Rockford, San Jose, Worcester, Springfield and Bridgeport.

Langlois played four seasons at Quinnipiac University, playing for current Bears assistant coach Reid Cashman.

Cammarata, 22, begins his rookie season after four years at the University of Minnesota, where he tallied five goals and 15 assists in 34 games as a senior in 2016-17.

Cherniwchan, 28, has spent the majority of his five-year pro career with Hershey’s ECHL affiliate in South Carolina. He also has 17 goals and 19 assists for 36 points in 134 AHL contests with Providence and Springfield.

Simonelli, 24, notched one assist in six AHL games with the Bakersfield Condors last season, spending most of the year with Norfolk (ECHL). Simonelli has amassed three goals and nine assists for 12 points in 64 career AHL games with Bakersfield and Providence.
