SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League has named Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins right wing Dennis Bonvie as the recipient of the CCM/AHL Milestone of the Month award for February.

On Feb. 23 in Binghamton, Bonvie took to the ice for his 800th regular-season American Hockey League game, becoming the 27th player in the 71-year history of the league to reach that milestone. Bonvie celebrated the feat by scoring a goal in the Penguins’ 5-4 win over the Senators that night.

In his 14th professional season and fourth with the Penguins organization, Bonvie finished the month with 82 goals, 183 assists and a league-record 4,228 penalty minutes in 802 games. The native of Antigonish, N.S., played in the first modern AHL All-Star Game in 1995, and reached the Calder Cup Finals with Hamilton in 1997 and with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in 2001. Bonvie has also skated in 92 career National Hockey League contests with Colorado, Ottawa, Boston, Pittsburgh, Chicago and Edmonton.

In recognition of earning the CCM/AHL Milestone of the Month, Bonvie will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Wilkes-Barre/Scranton home game.
