Houston brings Manitoba’s streak to an end

Dieter Kochan stopped 44 of 45 shots as the Houston Aeros snapped a 15-game road winless streak with a 3-1 victory over the Manitoba Moose in front of 7,023 fans at the MTS Centre on Tuesday night.

The loss brought an end to the Moose’s eight-game winning streak overall and nine-game winning streak on home ice.

Kochan stopped all 30 shots he faced over the first two periods en route to the win. Jannik Hansen provided the only goal of the night for Manitoba, ending Kochan’s shutout bid with 11:19 left in regulation.

Bryan Lundbohm and Benoit Pouliot each tallied a goal and an assist to give the Aeros their first road victory since Jan. 12. They had been 0-12-2-1 away from home since then.

Matt Foy had two assists on the night for the Aeros, who take on the Moose again on Wednesday night.


IOWA 2, PEORIA 1
Yared Hagos scored the go-ahead goal with 5:11 left in the second period to help the Iowa Stars to a 2-1 win over the visiting Peoria Rivermen.

The win moves the Stars one point ahead of the Rivermen and into fourth place in the West Division.

Hagos also assisted on Paul Szczechura‘s second goal in as many games. Konstantin Pushkarev recorded two assists and Dan Ellis stopped 21 of 22 shots as Iowa defeated Peoria at home for the first time in four tries this season.

Trent Whitfield scored the lone goal for Peoria.
