McKenna earns 200th AHL victory

Mike McKenna became the 15th goaltender in AHL history with 200 regular-season victories when he made 24 saves in the Springfield Thunderbirds’ 4-2 win at Hartford on Sunday evening.

McKenna, 33, has spent parts of 12 seasons in the American Hockey League, appearing in 414 games with the Thunderbirds, the Portland Pirates, the Springfield Falcons, the Peoria Rivermen, the Binghamton Senators, the Albany/Lowell Devils, the Norfolk Admirals, the Milwaukee Admirals and the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights.

McKenna has a career record of 200-158-32 with a 2.70 goals-against average, a .913 save percentage and 25 shutouts. The St. Louis, Mo., native was an AHL All-Star in 2016.

McKenna has also appeared in 22 NHL games with Tampa Bay, New Jersey, Columbus and Arizona.
