David Warsofsky‘s goal 1:32 into the third period stood up as the difference as Wilkes-Barre/Scranton defeated Providence, 2-1, to take a 2-1 lead in their best-of-five Atlantic Division semifinal.

The Penguins look to close out the series when they host Game 4 on Friday.

Warsofsky, a member of the Bruins organization from 2011-15, scored his third goal of the series on a drive from the point during a Pens power play.

Tim Erixon had given Wilkes-Barre a 1-0 lead with a goal at 19:43 of the second period. Kevin Porter set up both Penguins goals in Game 3, giving him six assists in the series.

Jordan Szwarz got Providence on the board with 6:35 left in regulation, but Casey DeSmith made 15 of his 32 saves in the third period to seal the win.

Zane McIntyre finished with 30 saves for the Bruins.

All three games in this series have been decided by a single goal, as were all three in the teams’ first-round meeting last year.
