Sterling, MacIntyre pace Wolves

CHICAGO 5, SAN ANTONIO 3
2010 AHL All-Star Brett Sterling scored twice and Drew MacIntyre made 41 saves as Chicago took a 5-3 road win over San Antonio on Thursday at the AT&T Center. The Wolves won their season-high fourth straight game and moved to 7-1-0-0 in their last eight contests.

Sterling netted two goals in a 2:34 span during the opening period, turning a 1-0 Chicago deficit into a 2-1 lead, and now shows a league-leading 21 goals on the season.

Joey Crabb extended Chicago’s lead to 3-1 before the second period was out, but San Antonio climbed back to a draw on a second-period strike by 2010 AHL All-Star defenseman Sean Sullivan and a third-period marker by Brett MacLean.

But Wolves defenseman Nathan Oystrick broke the tie with just 2:03 left in regulation, and Spencer Machacek iced the victory with a late empty-netter. Matt Anderson and Tim Stapleton each chipped in two assists for the Wolves.

MacLean finished with two goals and an assist for the Rampage, and both of his markers came unassisted. San Antonio has dropped back-to-back games for the first time since a five-game slide (0-4-1-0) from Dec. 6-16.
