Moose sign Shawn Weller

The Manitoba Moose announced today they have signed left winger Shawn Weller to an American Hockey League contract.

Weller, 24, appeared in 31 games with the Abbotsford Heat last season. In that span, he collected 12 points (8g, 4a) along with 19 penalty minutes. He also played in three Calder Cup Playoff games with the Heat where he accumulated two points (1g, 1a) while racking-up 14 penalty minutes.

Along with his stint in Abbotsford, Weller also played in 42 games with Bakersfield of the ECHL during the 2009-10 campaign. The Glens Falls, N.Y. native collected 46 points (18g, 28a) with the Condors along with 55 penalty minutes.

In 165 career AHL games with Binghamton and Abbotsford, Weller has scored 20 goals and 17 assists for 37 total points.

Weller was originally drafted by the Ottawa Senators in the third round, 77th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
