Sean Bergenheim scored four times and Wade Dubeiewicz made 40 saves as the Bridgeport Sound Tigers defeated the Hartford Wolf Pack, 5-1, to earn their first win in seven tries against their in-state rivals this season.
Bergenheim, who turned 22 earlier this month, scored the first three goals of the game, single-handedly chasing starting goaltender Robert Gherson at the 4:42 mark of the second period.
He capped his memorable night with 5:38 left in regulation, becoming the ninth player to score at least four goals in an AHL game this season.
Dubielewicz stopped all 19 shots he faced in the third period to preserve the win and bring an abrupt end to the Wolf Pack’s eight-game points streak (7-0-0-1).
Matt Koalska scored the other goal for Bridgeport, and Robert Nilsson, Jeremy Colliton and Harlan Pratt recorded two assists each.
