Erik Westrum scored two goals and added an assist while Seamus Kotyk made 30 saves as Houston defeated Chicago, 4-0, at Allstate Arena on Sunday evening.
Westrum is up to 68 points on the season, four better than teammate Kirby Law for the top spot in the AHL scoring race.
It was the Aeros’ first regulation win in Rosemont since Apr. 7, 2002, a span of 21 regular-season and playoff games.
Law recorded an assist and established a new franchise record with a 16-game point streak for Houston (32-10-1-1), which has won 14 of its last 16 and 17 of its last 20 and extended its West Division lead over idle Milwaukee to six points.
The Aeros, playing their first game outside of the state of Texas since Dec. 11, have outscored their opponents 18-3 during their current four-game winning streak.
Kotyk recorded his first shutout since Dec. 23, 2003. Getting the bulk of work in place of an injured Josh Harding, Kotyk is 6-1-0 with a 1.35 GAA in his last seven appearances.
Westrum now has four straight multiple-point contests and six in the last seven games. Patrick O’Sullivan, with a goal and an assist, reclaimed sole possession of the AHL rookie scoring lead with 46 points on the year.
