Aeros stay alive with 1-0 win

(aeros.com) — Brett Bulmer scored the only goal and Mike Brodeur made 31 saves as the Houston Aeros edged the Oklahoma City Barons 1-0 in Game 3 of the AHL’s Western Conference Quarterfinals Sunday at Cox Convention Center. The win cut OKC’s series lead to 2-1 in the best-of-five series.

Bulmer’s goal at 11:26 of the second period, his first as a pro in postseason action, broke a scoreless tie. Brodeur stopped 20 shots over the final 40 minutes of play, and the Houston penalty kill smothered all seven OKC power play attempts.

Cody Almond and Nick Palmieri earned the helpers on the Houston goal.

Houston will face the Barons on Tuesday (8:00 ET, AHL Live) at Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City in Game 4 of the best-of-five first round AHL Western Conference series. Games 5, if necessary, is Wednesday in Oklahoma City.
