AHL matinees to beat Monday blues

Martin Luther King Jr. Day features two matinees in the AHL, with Bridgeport hosting Norfolk in a key East Division showdown, and league-leading Wilkes-Barre/Scranton visiting the surging Syracuse Crunch.

The Sound Tigers have lost in regulation just once in their last 10 outings (7-1-0-2), and have moved into third place in the East Division, two points ahead of the Admirals. Norfolk has already beaten the top two teams in the East this weekend, knocking off Wilkes-Barre on Friday and Hershey last night.

Game time at the Arena at Harbor Yard is set for 1:05 p.m. (ET).

In Syracuse, the Crunch have won four straight overall to move closer to the top of the North Division, six points back of second-place Manitoba (with four games in hand). The mighty Penguins have lost three in a row, and their hold on first place in the overall AHL standings is slipping.

Puck drops at the Onondaga County War Memorial at 2:00 (ET).
