Rockford visits Grand Rapids this afternoon in a matinee at Van Andel Arena… Both teams are coming off losses to Charlotte: the Griffins on Saturday (2-1) and the IceHogs on Sunday (4-2)… Brandon Pirri and Jimmy Hayes (his first as a pro) scored for Rockford on Sunday… The IceHogs sit at 4-6-0-0 for the season, but have won three of five on the road… Jamie Johnson scored the lone goal for Grand Rapids on Saturday, his third straight game with a goal (3-2-5)… Chris Conner extended his scoring streak to four games (2-5-7) with an assist.

Binghamton heads to Hershey this evening looking to snap a four-game winless streak (0-3-0-1)… The Senators are 3-19-2-2 in their last 26 visits to Giant Center going back to Feb. 5, 2005, including a 3-2 loss on Oct. 30… Mike Hoffman scored Binghamton’s only goal in Saturday’s 2-1 shootout loss to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, giving the second-year pro 3-3-6 in his last six games… Hershey has been off since a 4-0 loss in Wilkes-Barre on Friday, the Bears’ first shutout loss on the road since Game 4 of the 2010 Eastern Conference Finals in Manchester… Boyd Kane had a six-game scoring streak snapped in the loss (3-3-6)… Seven of Binghamton’s eight losses this season have been by one goal.

One point behind Norfolk for first place in the East Division, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton visits the Admirals tonight for the teams’ first meeting since their opening-round playoff series last spring… Norfolk won the first two on the road before the Penguins took four straight to advance… Wilkes-Barre returns to Scope tonight riding a six-game winning streak, during which Brad Thiessen has stopped 152 of 158 shots (0.99, .962) in going 6-0-0… The Penguins are a perfect 6-0-0-0 on the road this season and have won 10 straight regular-season games away from home going back to last season… This is Norfolk’s only home game in a stretch that will see them play 11 of 12 on the road from Oct. 23 to Nov. 19… Admirals rookie Carter Ashton (11-5-16) scored his AHL-leading 11th goal of the season in Sunday’s 3-0 win in Providence.
