LOOKING AHEAD:
Abbotsford begins a six-game New England road trip this weekend in Providence on Friday and Sunday, with a Saturday visit to Bridgeport in between… The Heat bring a season-high six-game points streak (5-0-0-1) into this weekend’s action and are tied with Manitoba for third place in the North Division… Cam Cunning has netted a goal in four straight games (4-1-5) and shows a point in five straight (4-3-7) for the Heat, and defenseman Staffan Kronwall has found the scoresheet in six of his last eight outings (2-6-8)… Providence is 7-3-0-0 in its last 10 games and is two points out of a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference… Former NHL first-round draft pick Zach Hamill is on a four-game scoring streak (3-3-6) for the Bruins, while Brad Marchand has recorded 13 points (3-10-13) in 11 games since returning from injury… B’s defensemen Jeff Penner (1-4-5) and Andy Wozniewski (1-3-4) both have a point in four of their last five games.
Winners of nine straight games, Portland visits Albany on Friday before heading to Rochester on Saturday and Sunday… The Pirates are a victory away from tying their team-record 10-game win streak which was set Nov. 8-27, 1996… Kyle Wanvig is riding a seven-game scoring streak (3-7-10) for the Pirates, and defenseman Marc-Andre Gragnani is on a five-game run (1-4-5)… Portland’s Tyler Ennis shows 2-5-7 in his last two outings and leads all AHL rookies with 53 points (18-35-53) in 53 games overall… The River Rats, also kicking off a three-game weekend, are coming off a 9-2 loss at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Wednesday… Rats leading scorer Jerome Samson (22-22-44) has netted a goal in three of his last four games (3-1-4), while rookie Drayson Bowman shows a point in five of his last six contests (3-3-6)… Albany is 10-6-1-1 against Atlantic Division opponents this season.
Milwaukee hosts Houston on Friday in a critical match-up of West Division playoff contenders… The Admirals enter play five points ahead of the Aeros for the division’s fourth and final postseason entry… Milwaukee is 4-1-0-0 thus far in the season series, including 2-1-0-0 on home ice… Mark Santorelli has a team-high five points (3-2-5) against Houston this season but is scoreless in his last four outings overall… Brother Mike Santorelli paces the Admirals’ active roster with 19 goals and 32 points in 33 games for the season… Houston is kicking off a three-game midwest road trip… Aeros leading scorer Jean-Michel Daoust shows five points (1-4-5) in his last six games… Houston defenseman Maxim Noreau is tied for second among AHL defensemen with 31 points (14-27-41) in 43 contests… The Aeros have scored 131 of their 151 goals this season from the second period on.
