LOOKING AHEAD:
East-leading Philadelphia kicks off the second half of its schedule with a visit to Syracuse in the teams’ first meeting of the season… It’s also lined up to be the first AHL meeting between Phantoms defenseman Alexandre Picard and Crunch forward Alexandre Picard… Jared Ross paces the Phantoms with 35 points (12-23-35) but has been held scoreless in his last three games, matching a season high… Pete Zingoni has scored a team-high 14 goals for Philadelphia… Joakim Lindstrom leads Syracuse in goals (15), assists (23) and points (38) in 29 games, and has also notched six points in 11 NHL games for Columbus… Defenseman Clay Wilson has 25 points on the season (5-20-25), and 16 of them have come on the power play… The Crunch own the AHL’s second-best home power play at 24.7 percent and rank third overall at 20.3 percent.
Portland brings its four-game winning streak to Binghamton on Wednesday to take on the Senators, who are 3-0-1-1 in their last five outings… The Pirates took a 4-2 win when the teams met in Portland on Jan. 4… Pirates forward Geoff Platt scored twice in that game and is tied for second in the league with 22 goals… Andrew Ebbett, who tallied 65 points for the Senators last season, currently paces Portland with 44 points (9-35-44)… Drew Miller has a point in all six games for Portland (5-5-10) since being reassigned by parent-club Anaheim… Bobby Ryan, the second overall pick in the 2005 draft, has five points (3-2-5) in three contests since returning from the Ducks… Binghamton defenseman Lawrence Nycholat leads his team and ranks fourth among AHL blueliners with 29 points (9-20-29)… Wednesday could mark the return of Senators leading goal-scorer and Canadian AHL All-Star captain Denis Hamel (17-8-25), who has missed Binghamton’s last 13 games due to injury.
In Thursday’s only action, Peoria looks to extend its seven-game winning streak in the first of a two-game set against Manitoba at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg… The Moose are coming off an 0-4-0-0 Texas road trip, but have won five straight at home… Peoria has averaged four goals per game during its seven-game run, outscoring opponents 28-16… Charles Linglet leads the Rivermen with 15 goals and 39 points but hasn’t lit the lamp since scoring twice in the first game of Peoria’s winning streak… Mike Glumac has three goals in his last two games and a point in four of his last five outings (3-4-7)… Micki DuPont has 25 points (4-21-25) and hasn’t been held scoreless in more than three straight games all season… Brad Moran has a three-game scoring streak (1-3-4) and a team-high 28 points (9-19-28) on the season for the Moose… Rookie Michael Grabner, Vancouver’s first-round draft pick in 2006, leads the Moose with 14 goals and ranks second with 25 points.
