On Thursday, Dustin Boyd potted a hat trick in his first game back from Calgary, leading Omaha past Toronto, 4-1… Keith Aucoin registered his third straight three-point night in Albany’s 3-2 win at Milwaukee… Josh Harding made 38 saves as Houston edged Iowa, 3-2… On Wednesday, former U. of New Hampshire standout Daniel Winnik scored twice in his homecoming as San Antonio halted a 13-game road losing streak with a 6-3 win at Manchester.

LOOKING AHEAD:

The Hershey Bears make their first-ever trip to Winnipeg for a pair of games against the Manitoba Moose this weekend… The Bears have won all six of their road outings this season, but are coming off their first regulation loss of the year, a 4-1 setback to Philadelphia last Sunday… Hershey forward Eric Fehr, who brings an eight-game scoring streak into the weekend (7g, 4a) is a Manitoba native (Winkler) and former junior star at Brandon (WHL)… Playing Grand Rapids four times in the last week, the Moose scored just one even-strength goal but earned five of a possible eight standings points… Manitoba’s Jason Jaffray has scored eight goals in his last seven games.

Norfolk wraps up a six-game road trip with three games this weekend, beginning Friday night in Providence against the Atlantic Division co-leaders… The Bruins have won five in a row, while the Admirals are off to an 8-1-1-1 start to the season… Rookie Troy Brouwer has scored a goal in four straight games for Norfolk… Ex-Bruin Carl Corazzini scored six goals in his first four games of the year for the Admirals, but is scoreless in his last seven… David Krejci leads Providence with 10 points in 10 games this season… Hannu Toivonen was assigned to the P-Bruins earlier this week for his first AHL stint since backstopping the club to the Calder Cup conference finals in 2005.

On Nov. 12, 2005, two of the Eastern Conference’s top teams met at the Cumberland County Civic Center, where Wilkes-Barre/Scranton blanked Portland, 6-0… It’s a similar script 52 weeks later, as the Penguins prepare to visit the Pirates on Saturday night… This year’s Pens, winners of 10 of their first 12, are coming off a 4-0 win in Hartford on Wednesday night and are back in the East Division lead… The Pirates have lost four of five since reeling off six straight wins, but remain tied with Providence atop the Atlantic entering the weekend… Erik Christensen, with 10 points in his last five games for the Penguins, ranks third in the AHL in scoring… Pierre Parenteau continues to lead Portland in scoring with 12 points on the year.

On Thursday, Shane O’Brien had a goal and two assists, Ryan Getzlaf scored twice and 1998 AHL All-Rookie goaltender J.S. Giguere made 20 saves as Anaheim improved to 12-0-4 with a 6-0 win over Vancouver… 2001 AHL All-Star Jonathan Cheechoo scored twice and Patrick Rissmiller had three assists in San Jose’s 7-3 win over Los Angeles… 2005 AHL All-Rookie goalie Cam Ward made 20 saves as Carolina shut out Washington, 5-0.
