Amerks, Aeros win

Tom Askey made 32 saves on the night to lead Rochester to a 3-1 victory at Mile One Stadium in St. John’s on Tuesday.

It was the eighth win in a row for the league-leading Amerks.

Norm Milley, Paul Gaustad and Jason Pominville scored for Rochester, and Chris Taylor added two assists.

Askey, making his 12th appearance of the season, improved to 7-1-2 as he made 19 of his 32 stops in the third period.

Nathan Barrett had the only goal for the Maple Leafs, who got 31 saves from J.F. Racine.

HOUSTON 5, UTAH 2
In front of 9,062 fans at the Toyota Center, Houston posted a 5-2 win over Utah in a special Tuesday matinee.

Kirby Law, Brent Burns, Kyle Wanvig, Patrick Traverse and Mark Cullen scored for the Aeros. Mikko Koivu, Stephane Veilleux and Ray Giroux chipped in two assists apiece.

Josh Harding, who suffered a serious concussion in his last meeting with the Grizzlies back in November, made 22 saves and improved to 8-8-2 on the season.

It was the 12th straight road loss for Utah, which continues its week with games in Chicago, Grand Rapids and Milwaukee.
