Bears bag Bacashihua for 2009-10

The 2009 Calder Cup champion Hershey Bears announced today the club has signed goaltender Jason Bacashihua to a contract for the upcoming 2009-10 season.

Bacashihua, 26, brings an impressive resume to Hershey, including 38 games of NHL experience with the St. Louis Blues. He posted a 2.77 goals-against average and a .905 saves percentage last season while playing for the Lake Erie Monsters, and was the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the week ending Mar. 1, 2009.

In 211 career AHL appearances with Lake Erie, Peoria, Worcester and Utah, Bacashihua has posted a record of 82-100-17 with 14 shutouts.

A native of Garden City, Mich., Bacashihua was originally a first-round pick (26th overall) by Dallas in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
