Bears to hold prospect camp

The Hershey Bears announced today the team will hold a prospect camp at Giant Center July 10-15. The announcement was made by Bears President/GM Doug Yingst.

Players will participate in on-ice practice and off-ice sessions during the week with coaches and player personnel. Several players drafted by Washington are expected to attend, including Eric Fehr, Mike Green and Chris Bourque.

Fehr was drafted as Washington’s first overall pick in 2003, and went on to score 50 or more goals for Brandon (WHL) each of the last two seasons.

Green comes to camp after being selected in the first round in 2004. He scored 14 goals as a defenseman for Saskatoon in 2004-05.

Bourque, the son of Hockey Hall of Fame defenseman Ray Bourque, will come to Hershey after being selected in the second round of the 2004 Entry Draft. Bourque played at Boston University in 2004-05 before joining the Portland Pirates at the end of the regular season.

The Bears also will welcome former Portland Pirates Jared Aulin, Steve Eminger, Owen Fussey, Boyd Gordon and Brian Sutherby to Chocolatetown for summer camp. Sutherby, a former number one pick in 2000, scored 10 goals in 53 games last season. Eminger has 58 games of NHL experience with Washington, and played in 62 games for Portland in 2004-05. Gordon played in all 80 games last season for the Pirates, scoring 17 goals and adding 22 assists.

The highlight of the week will be an open practice session to be held on Thursday, July 14 at 7:00 p.m. at Giant Center. The scrimmage is free and open to the public, with parking at Giant Center provided free of charge as well.
