Belleville signs former first-rounder Percy

The Belleville Senators have signed defenseman Stuart Percy to a one-year American Hockey League contract.

Percy, 25, appeared in 67 regular-season games with the AHL’s Rochester Americans last season, establishing career highs with seven goals, 27 assists, 34 points and a plus-7 rating.

He also notched a goal and an assist in two postseason contests.

A native of Oakville, Ont., Percy has played 281 regular-season games in the AHL with Rochester, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Toronto, totaling 18 goals and 88 assists for 106 points. He has added one goal and nine assists for 10 points in 37 Calder Cup Playoff games.

Percy was a first-round pick (25th overall) by Toronto in the 2011 NHL Draft, and has collected three assists in 12 career NHL games with the Maple Leafs.
