Bochenski named CCM Vector/AHL Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League announced today that Norfolk Admirals right wing Brandon Bochenski has been named the CCM Vector/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending November 26, 2006.

Bochenski scored seven goals, including two game-winners, and had eight points in four games on the week for the Admirals.

Bochenski began the week on Tuesday night by registering two points and scoring the decisive goal in Norfolk’s 3-2 overtime victory over Manchester, extending the Admirals’ home winning streak to 10 games. He recorded goals in Wednesday’s 2-1 overtime loss to the Monarchs and Friday’s 4-2 loss at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, then set a franchise record by scoring four times in a 7-5 win versus Philadelphia on Saturday.

In recognition of his achievement, Bochenski will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Admirals home game.

A 24-year-old native of Blaine, Minn., Bochenski is tied for second in the AHL with 18 goals, including a league-leading 11 power-play markers, and is tied for third with 32 points on the season. He is currently on a seven-game scoring streak (8g, 8a), and has points in 17 of his 19 games played in 2006-07. The third-year pro, an AHL All-Rookie Team selection in 2004-05, has totaled 74 goals and 74 assists for 148 points in 127 career AHL games. Bochenski has also appeared in 41 career NHL games, including one this season with Chicago, totaling eight goals and nine assists for 17 points.
