Capitals agree to terms with Muir

The Washington Capitals, NHL affiliate of the American Hockey League’s Hershey Bears, announced they have signed defenseman Bryan Muir, who had been acquired from the Los Angeles Kings on Aug. 12.

In keeping with club policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Muir, 32, was named to the AHL’s First All-Star Team as a member of the Manchester Monarchs during the 2003-04 season. With the Monarchs that year he scored 13 goals and 37 assists for 50 points in 73 games. In 350 games during nine AHL seasons, Muir has totaled 52 goals and 110 assists for 162 points.

Muir was originally signed by Edmonton as a free agent in 1996. He made his NHL debut with the Oilers in 1995-96 and also has played for New Jersey, Chicago, Tampa Bay, Colorado and the Kings. The 6′ 4″, 220-pound native of Winnipeg recorded one assist and two penalty minutes in two games with the Kings in 2003-04.
