Clowe leads Barons to win over Ducks

Ryane Clowe recorded two goals and two assists to lead Cleveland to a 5-1 victory over Cincinnati at Gund Arena on Sunday evening.

Clowe opened the scoring 4:17 into the second period with a power-play tally, snapping a sequence of 198:21 without goal for the Barons.

Third-period goals by Christian Ehrhoff and Shane Joseph 1:54 apart expanded Cleveland’s lead to 3-0 before Joel Perrault scored for Cincinnati with 1:16 remaining in the game.

With Cincinnati goaltender Mathieu Chouinard pulled for an extra attacker, Clowe deposited the puck from the left circle into an empty net for his second goal of the game and fourth point.

Craig Valette added an insurance tally with 14 seconds remaining in the game for the Barons, who ended a three-game slide. Cleveland had been blanked by the Mighty Ducks, 1-0, Saturday in Cincinnati.

Dimitri Patzold finished with 38 saves on the night.

The Ducks went scoreless in eight power-play chances and are now just three for their last 63 with the man-advantage dating back to November 20.
