The Utica Comets announced that the club has re-signed defenseman Kent Huskins to an American Hockey League contract for the 2014-15 season.
Huskins originally joined the Comets on Nov. 4, 2013, on a professional tryout contract. He spent the rest of the season in Utica and provided veteran leadership to the Comets’ blue line, appearing in 65 of the team’s final 67 games of the season and compiling three goals, seven assists and 31 penalty minutes.
Over his 13-year professional career, Huskins has recorded 13 goals and 55 assists for 68 points in 318 National Hockey League games with Anaheim, San Jose, St. Louis, Detroit and Philadelphia. He was a member of the 2006-07 Stanley Cup champion Anaheim Ducks team.
The Almonte, Ont., native has appeared in 475 AHL games and has notched 33 goals and 101 assists for 134 points with Norfolk, San Antonio, Manitoba, Portland and Utica.
The 6-foot-4, 209-pound defenseman was drafted in the sixth round by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.
