Devils’ Swift named Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League announced today that Lowell Devils center Michael Swift has been named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Mar. 21, 2010. Swift notched five goals and two assists for seven points along with a plus-4 rating in four games last week.

After being held scoreless in Portland on Tuesday, Swift scored a goal in Lowell’s 4-2 loss to Providence on Friday night. He then tied a career high with three points in Saturday’s 3-2 victory over Portland, scoring twice in regulation before assisting on the game-winning goal in overtime. Swift matched that effort on Sunday against Worcester, netting two goals in a span of 1:09 during the second period and adding an assist as the Devils earned another point in a 6-5 shootout loss.

In recognition of his achievement, Swift will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Devils home game.

Signed by New Jersey on Apr. 19, 2008, Swift ranks third on the team with 19 goals and second with 46 points in 67 games for Lowell this season, his second as a professional.
