Flames sign Seitsonen

The Calgary Flames, parent club of the AHL’s Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights, have signed 2004 draft pick Aki Seitsonen.

As per club policy, terms and conditions of the deal were not disclosed.

During the 2005-06 season with the Prince Albert Raiders, Seitsonen posted 35 points on 20 goals and 15 assists. In 204 career WHL games, over the past three seasons, the 6-foot-3, 206-pound center tallied 127 points on 60 goals and 67 assists.

Seitsonen also made his professional debut during the 2005-06 campaign, appearing in seven games with Omaha.

The 20-year-old Seitsonen twice represented his native Finland at the World Junior Championships, winning a bronze medal in 2006. He was drafted by Calgary in the fourth round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
