Flyers lock up Gordon for 2014-15

The Philadelphia Flyers, parent club of the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms, have signed unrestricted free-agent right wing Andrew Gordon to a one-year, two-way contract.

Gordon, 28, spent the 2013-14 season with the St. John’s IceCaps, recording 23 goals and 34 assists for 57 points to finish second in team scoring. Gordon then went on to lead the team in scoring during the Calder Cup Playoffs, posting eight goals and 11 assists for 19 points in 21 games to help lead the club to a berth in the Calder Cup Finals.

Gordon was drafted by Washington in the seventh round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft and went on to become an offensive powerhouse for the Hershey Bears, where he played four seasons from 2007-11. He was an integral part of consecutive Calder Cup championships for the Bears in 2009 and 2010, and was an AHL All-Star in 2010 and 2011.

In 426 career AHL contests with Hershey, Syracuse, Chicago and St. John’s, Gordon has recorded 149 goals and 175 assists for 324 points. In postseason play, Gordon has 30 goals and 25 assists for 55 points in 67 Calder Cup Playoff games.
