Flyers, Sabres make deal

The Philadelphia Flyers have acquired right wing Justin Bailey from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for forward Taylor Leier.

Bailey, 23, has totaled nine goals and 11 assists for 20 points in 37 AHL games with the Rochester Americans this season.

A fourth-year pro from Buffalo, N.Y., Bailey has skated in 196 career AHL games with the Amerks, collecting 62 goals and 54 assists for 116 points. He was an AHL All-Star in 2017.

Bailey was drafted by the Sabres in the second round in 2013 and appeared in 52 NHL games with Buffalo, recording five goals and three assists.

Leier, 24, has registered 10 goals and nine assists for 19 points in 34 games with the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms in 2018-19.

A fifth-year pro from Saskatoon, Sask., Leier has registered 56 goals and 80 assists for 136 points in 226 career AHL contests, all with Lehigh Valley. He was also an AHL All-Star in 2017.

Leier was a fourth-round selection by Philadelphia in the 2012 NHL Draft, and has amassed two goals and five assists in 55 career NHL games with the Flyers.
