Hagel signs with hometown Bulldogs

The Hamilton Bulldogs have announced the signing of defenseman Kyle Hagel to one-year American Hockey League contract.

Hagel, 27, played seven games for the Peoria Rivermen in 2011-12, collecting one assist and 15 penalty minutes. In his only full season of play in the AHL, Hagel notched five goals, eight assists and 245 PIM in 77 games for Rockford in 2010-11.

Hagel has also skated in 80 games in ECHL over his first four pro seasons.

The 6-foot, 210-pound defenseman played four seasons for Princeton University from 2004-08, recording 24 points (12 goals, 12 assists) and 80 penalty minutes in 117 games. Hagel was also a member of the Hamilton Red Wings of the Ontario Provincial Junior “A” Hockey League from 2002-04.
