‘Tis the day before Christmas, and all through the “A”,
Not a creature is stirring on this holiday.
There’s more to be played and a ways to go still,
But so far this season has been quite a thrill
Excitement is found ’cross the league, top to bottom,
The finest young players in hockey? We got ’em.
Our teams are all serving their partners quite well,
As alumni keep graduating to the NHL,
But our new class of rookies is filling the void,
Like Sterling and Callahan, Brouwer and Boyd,
From Stafford and Schwarz to Schremp and Versteeg,
These first-year pros really are storming the league.
The Bears are still roaring, in the standings they’re up,
As Chocolatetown stands in defense of their Cup;
Rochester’s raging, the Bulldogs are growling,
The Penguins stand proud and the Wolves go on howling.
A look ’round the league finds many close races,
As teams every night are put through the paces.
Atlantic and East, up North and out West,
The battles are raging to see who’s the best,
There’s a long way to go ’til the season is done,
And we crown Calder Cup champion 71,
So from Portland to Houston and points far and near,
We’re glad you’re along for another great year.
