IceHogs sign Versteeg for 2019-20

The Rockford IceHogs today announced they have agreed to terms with two-time Stanley Cup champion forward Kris Versteeg on a one-year AHL contract that runs through the 2019-20 season.

Versteeg, 32, spent the 2018-19 season in Europe, playing for Avangard Omsk in the Kontinental Hockey League and Vaxjo Lakers HC in the Swedish Hockey League.

Versteeg is a veteran of 643 National Hockey League games with Chicago, Toronto, Philadelphia, Florida, Carolina, Los Angeles and Calgary, totaling 149 goals and 209 assists. He won Stanley Cup championships with the Blackhawks in 2010 and 2015.

Originally selected by Boston in the 2004 NHL Draft, Versteeg began his pro career in the AHL, recording 46 goals and 81 assists in 139 games with Providence, Norfolk and Rockford.
