Kesler, Moose to much for Runners

Ryan Kesler scored twice and Jeff Heerema recorded three assists as Manitoba posted a 3-2 win over Edmonton at Rexall Place on Tuesday night.

The win moved the Moose two points ahead of St. John’s in second place in the North Division. The Moose and Maple Leafs will meet in the divisional semifinal playoff round, with home-ice advantage going to the team that finishes second.

Raffi Torres scored both goals for Edmonton, his 20th and 21st of the season.

Wade Flaherty improved to 18-9-3 on the year, making 19 saves for Manitoba.

Scottie Upshall and Paul Brown recorded a goal and an assist apiece as Milwaukee handed Grand Rapids a crushing 4-1 defeat at the Bradley Center.

The Griffins are still five points out of the final playoff spot in the West Division with just three games remaining.

Ryan Suter and Jerred Smithson also scored for the Admirals, and Brian Finley made 32 saves on the night.

Milwaukee improved to 101 points on the season, becoming the sixth AHL team to hit triple digits this season. The Admirals are two points behind first-place Chicago in the West, with three games to go.
