Lightning sign forward Halmo

The Tampa Bay Lightning, parent club of the AHL’s Syracuse Crunch, have signed forward Mike Halmo to a one-year, two-way contract.

Halmo, 25, established career highs with 22 goals and 41 points in 74 games played with the AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers in 2015-16, his fourth professional season. He also scored one goal in three Calder Cup Playoff contests.

A native of Waterloo, Ont., Halmo has skated in 214 career AHL games, notching 56 goals and 56 assists for 112 points.

Halmo originally signed as a free agent with the New York Islanders on Mar. 10, 2012, and has one goal in 20 career NHL contests.
