Making the second start of his professional career and his first in the AHL, Charlie Lindgren stopped 50 shots on Friday night to lead the St. John’s IceCaps to a 4-1 road win over the Providence Bruins.

Lindgren signed with the Montreal Canadiens following his junior season at St. Cloud State University last spring.

Nikita Scherbak, Charles Hudon, Markus Eisenschmid and Sven Andrighetto scored for the IceCaps, who picked up their first win of the 2016-17 season after beginning the year with three losses last weekend.

Alex Grant had the lone goal for the Bruins on a power play 11:23 into the third period. Lindgren made 19 stops in the final frame after turning aside 17 in the first and 14 more in the second.
