Little earns AHL milestone award for March

The American Hockey League has named Philadelphia Phantoms goaltender Neil Little the recipient of the CCM AHL Milestone of the Month award for March.

On Mar. 4, Little made 33 saves in a 4-0 victory over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at Bridgeport’s Arena at Harbor Yard. The shutout was the 200th win of Little’s American Hockey League career, a plateau reached by only 10 other goaltenders in the league’s 69-year history.

A native of Medicine Hat, Alta., the 33-year-old Little has a mark of 13-6-0 with three shutouts in 23 appearances this season. He led the Phantoms to a Calder Cup championship in 1998 and played in the AHL All-Star Classic in 2002. Little’s career record now stands at 201-145-41 in 415 career AHL games with Philadelphia and Hershey.

Hockey Hall of Famer Johnny Bower is the AHL’s all-time leader with 359 career victories.

In recognition of the CCM AHL Milestone of the Month, Little will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Phantoms home game.
