McMillan’s OT strike ties up West Finals

2011 Calder Cup Playoffs

HOUSTON 3, MILWAUKEE 2 (OT)
Carson McMillan lit the lamp only 3:35 into overtime to send Houston to a huge 3-2 win over visiting Milwaukee at the Toyota Center in Game 4 of the West Division Finals. The best-of-7 series is now deadlocked at two games apiece.

Game 5 is set for Friday night in Houston before the series shifts back to Milwaukee for Game 6 on Sunday.

McMillan netted his second goal of the postseason, and both have been overtime winners. The 22-year-old potted the decisive tally in Game 2 of the Aeros first-round sweep of Peoria back on Apr. 15 after posting 22 points (12-10-22) in 78 regular-season contests.

Defenseman Maxim Noreau picked up his second assists of the night on the game-winner, and Jarod Palmer also helped out on the play.

The Aeros grabbed a 2-0 lead before the game was 10 minutes old on strikes by Colton Gillies and Patrick O’Sullivan. Admirals forward Andreas Thuresson cut his team’s deficit in half heading to the first intermission, and defenseman Aaron Johnson tied it up on a power play strike late in the second frame.

Houston held a remarkable 33-13 shots on goal advantage for the night, and rookie goaltender Matt Hackett only had to make 11 saves to earn the victory in net. Counterpart Jeremy Smith of the Admirals took the loss with 30 stops of his own.
