The Calgary Flames, parent club of the AHL’s Abbotsford Heat, announced on Tuesday the signing of forward Stefan Meyer to a two-year contract.

Meyer, a native of Fox Valley, Sask., recorded 10 goals and eight assists in 67 AHL games with San Antonio in 2009-10, his fifth AHL season. The 25-year-old left wing has played a total of 333 games with San Antonio and Rochester, netting 74 goals and 74 assists for 148 points.

Meyer, a second-round draft choice by Florida in 2003, made his NHL debut with the Panthers in 2007-08, appearing in four games.
