The AHL’s 73rd regular season is in the books, and the matchups are set for the first round of the 2009 Calder Cup Playoffs.
The final pieces of the 16-team puzzle fell into place on Sunday, as Houston wrapped up third place in the West Division with a 6-4 win over San Antonio at Toyota Center. The Aeros will take on second-place Peoria in the first round, while West champions Milwaukee will face Rockford.
In the North Division, the Manitoba Moose and Toronto Marlies will square off in one division semifinal while Hamilton and Grand Rapids go head-to-head.
The Eastern Conference draw will see Hartford meet Worcester and Providence take on Portland in the Atlantic Division semifinals, while Hershey faces Philadelphia and Bridgeport tangles with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in the East Division.
