The Adirondack Flames announced Tuesday that they have signed defenseman Nolan Yonkman to an American Hockey League contract.
Yonkman attended training camp with the Calgary Flames before he was released on Oct. 1. The Punnichy, Sask., native is a veteran of 14 professional seasons. In 2013-14, Yonkman tallied two goals and five assists for seven points in 67 AHL games with Norfolk. He also skated in two contests with Anaheim in the NHL, notching one assist.
In 668 career AHL games with Norfolk, San Antonio, Milwaukee, Hershey and Portland, Yonkman has totaled 18 goals and 68 assists for 86 points, along with 1,122 penalty minutes. He has served as a team captain in Milwaukee (2008-10) and San Antonio (2010-13).
A second-round draft pick by Washington in 1999, Yonkman has appeared in 76 career NHL games, recording one goal and nine assists for 10 points.
