The Houston Aeros today announced Mark LeRose as the new Assistant Coach of the team. He rejoins Head Coach Kevin Constantine and Assistant General Manager/Assistant Coach Troy G. Ward after working with them as a Coaching Staff Assistant for the Pittsburgh Penguins during the 1999-2000 season. LeRose will be responsible for helping with the Aeros penalty kill, team defense as well as team video.
“The advantage for Mark is that he knows our language and what it takes for us to accomplish our goals as a staff,” Ward said. “He’s well developed as a coach in all areas of the game both on and off the ice for helping athletes today.”
LeRose, 39, spent the past two seasons as an Assistant Coach with the Everett Silvertips (WHL) after joining the team in the summer of 2007. Prior to joining the Silvertips, the Aspen, Colorado native worked for Next Testing as a Hockey Operations Consultant, and also worked for the Sioux Falls Stampede (USHL) and Wisconsin Badgers (WCHA). While working for the Penguins, LeRose was responsible for pre-game video breakdown and analysis while providing on ice skill development for the players.
From 1988-1992, LeRose played college hockey at Canisius College (Division I) in Buffalo, New York and served as Captain in his junior and senior seasons for the Golden Griffins.
“I’m really excited to coach at this level and work with Kevin and Troy again, I’ve got a great relationship with those two guys and a lot of respect and admiration for what they do,” LaRose said. “I’m really looking forward to working with athletes that are trying to get to the next step and help them achieve their goals.”
