St. John’s maintained its claim to the best record in the AHL with a 4-3 win over Syracuse last night… The teams meet again at Mile One Centre this evening, with the IceCaps (15-4-4-0) looking to extend their winning streak to four games… Aaron Gagnon, Kenndal McArdle, Patrice Cormier and Zach Redmond all scored for St. John’s in the second period of last night’s win, the first three goals coming in a 63-second span… The IceCaps went 3-for-7 on the power play after entering the game with nine power-play goals in 12 previous home games… Nicolas Deschamps, Kyle Palmieri and Brandon McMillan scored for the Crunch… Palmieri’s goal was his 14th of the season, one off the AHL lead… Iiro Tarkki finished with 35 saves as Syracuse allowed at least 35 shots in a game for the eighth time in its last 10 contests.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton visits Binghamton in an East Division battle tonight… The Penguins, 2-4-0-3 in their last nine games, are tied with Hershey and Norfolk for the top spot in the division and are coming off a 5-2 loss in Syracuse on Saturday night… The Senators rallied for a 4-3 win at Connecticut on Sunday… Andre Petersson scored twice in that victory for Binghamton, and now has 5-4-9 in his last nine games… Stephane Da Costa recorded two assists, giving him 0-4-4 in three games since joining Binghamton from the parent Ottawa Senators… Geoff Walker and Brian Gibbons scored for Wilkes-Barre in Saturday’s loss, and Nick Petersen tallied his fourth assist in his last three games… The Penguins are 3-0-1-0 against the B-Sens this season.
