The Colorado Avalanche announced today that the team has signed goaltender Joe Cannata and forward Scott Kosmachuk to one-year contracts for the 2018-19 campaign. Additionally, the club has signed forward Sheldon Dries to a one-year entry-level contract.

Dries, 24, is coming off an impressive rookie season with the AHL’s Texas Stars, where he notched 19 goals and 11 assists for 30 points with a plus-13 rating in 70 regular-season games. Dries added 10 goals in 22 playoff contests, helping the Stars reach the Calder Cup Finals.

Undrafted, Dries spent four seasons at Western Michigan University before joining Texas in 2017.

Kosmachuk, 24, skated in 70 AHL games with the Hartford Wolf Pack in 2017-18, his fourth pro season, notching 15 goals and 27 assists for a career-best 42 points.

The Toronto native has totaled 59 goals and 75 assists for 134 points in 265 career AHL games with Hartford, Manitoba and St. John’s.

A third-round draft pick by Winnipeg in 2012, Kosmachuk has appeared in eight career NHL games with the Jets, tallying three assists.

Cannata, 28, has spent his six-year pro career between the AHL and ECHL, and is coming off an ECHL championship with the Colorado Eagles in 2018.

Cannata was 3-0-1 in five AHL appearances with San Antonio last season, and has played in 121 career AHL games with San Antonio, Hershey, Utica and Chicago, posting a record of 57-41-12 with a 2.73 goals-against average, a .903 save percentage and three shutouts.
