The Columbus Blue Jackets, parent club of the AHL’s Springfield Falcons, have signed forward Chad Kolarik to a one-year contract, general manager Scott Howson announced.
As is club policy, terms were not disclosed.
Kolarik, 24, combined to record 26 goals and 24 assists for 50 points and 55 penalty minutes in 76 games with the Syracuse Crunch and San Antonio Rampage in 2009-10, including 9-6-15 in 17 games with the Crunch after being acquired by Columbus from Phoenix in exchange for forward Alexandre Picard on March 3.
Kolarik was scoreless in two games with the Blue Jackets in 2009-10, making his NHL debut at St. Louis on April 5.
In 152 career AHL games with Syracuse and San Antonio, Kolarik has registered 46 goals and 54 assists for 100 points.
Phoenix’s seventh pick, 199th overall, in the 2004 Entry Draft, Kolarik spent four seasons at the University of Michigan, where he earned NCAA West Second All-American and CCHA First All-Star Team honors in 2007-08. The Abington, Pa., native also spent two seasons with the United States Development Program from 2002-04.
