The Charlotte Checkers today announced that they have signed defenseman Bobby Sanguinetti to an AHL contract.

A two-time AHL All-Star (2010, 2015), Sanguinetti spent three seasons with the Checkers from 2010-13, setting a team record for points by a defenseman (50) in 2011-12.

The 30-year-old native of Trenton, N.J., played the past two seasons in Switzerland. He also represented the United States at the 2018 Olympics.

Sanguinetti was originally a first-round pick by the New York Rangers in the 2006 NHL Draft. He has collected 57 goals and 168 assists for 225 points in 378 career AHL games with Hartford, Charlotte, Utica and Rochester, along with two goals and four assists in 45 NHL contests with the Rangers and Carolina.
