Conner notches 500th AHL point

With the first of his two assists vs. Hershey on Wednesday night, Lehigh Valley Phantoms forward Chris Conner has joined the American Hockey League’s 500-point club.

Conner is the 94th player in AHL history to record 500 career regular-season points.

A 13th-year pro from Westland, Mich., Conner has totaled 191 goals and 310 assists for 501 points in 632 regular-season AHL games with the Phantoms, the Hershey Bears, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, the Portland Pirates, the Grand Rapids Griffins, the Peoria Rivermen and the Iowa Stars.

Conner, who turns 35 on Dec. 23, has also skated in 52 Calder Cup Playoff games, registering 13 goals and 21 assists.

Undrafted out of Michigan Tech, Conner has gone on to play 180 games in the National Hockey League with Dallas, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Phoenix and Washington, collecting 22 goals and 28 assists for 50 points. He also has one goal in nine Calder Cup Playoff games.
