Only one unbeaten team remains after two weekends of the 2016-17 AHL season.

Blake Coleman‘s goal 1:53 into overtime on Sunday gave the Albany Devils a 4-3 road win over the Providence Bruins at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center.

The win extends the Devils’ historic start to 5-0-0-0, the best beginning to an AHL season ever by any Albany team.

In his first professional start, Mackenzie Blackwood made 42 saves, including 37 during the final two periods of regulation and in overtime.

Brian Gibbons, Joe Blandisi and Blake Pietila also scored for the Devils. Coleman added an assist for his first multi-point game of the season, and Karl Stollery posted two helpers.

Providence’s goals came from Peter Cehlarik, Austin Czarnik and Tommy Cross, while Malcolm Subban stopped 30 of 34 shots.

Albany puts its perfect record on the line when they visit Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Wednesday night.
