Ducks sign Ebbett to one-year deal

The Anaheim Ducks, parent club of the AHL’s Portland Pirates, announced today that they have signed center Andrew Ebbett to a one-year entry-level contract.

Per club policy, no financial terms of the deal were disclosed.

Ebbett, 24, spent the 2006-07 season with the Binghamton Senators in the American Hockey League (AHL), scoring 26 goals and 39 assists for 65 points with 44 penalty minutes in 71 games. The Vernon, B.C., native finished fifth in scoring among AHL rookies and tied for first overall in shorthanded goals with five.

Prior to joining Binghamton, the 5-foot-10, 175-pound Ebbett spent four seasons at the University of Michigan, scoring 143 points with 131 PIM and a plus/minus rating of plus-45 in 167 career games. As a senior in 2005-06, Ebbett scored 42 points (14g, 28a) in 41 games, finishing second on the Wolverines in scoring and eighth overall in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association.
