Flames acquire AHL All-Star from Florida

The Calgary Flames have acquired center Drew Shore from the Florida Panthers in exchange for center Corban Knight.

Shore, a native of Littleton, Colo., was drafted by the Panthers in the second round (44th overall) in the 2009 NHL Draft. This season, the 23-year-old Shore has nine goals and 21 assists for 30 points in 35 games with the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League and is tied for 11th in AHL scoring.

On Tuesday, the 6-foot-3, 200-pound Shore was named to the Western Conference roster for the upcoming 2015 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Turning Stone Casino.

Shore has played 134 career AHL games, totaling 26 goals and 69 assists for 95 points. He also has appeared in 67 career NHL games for the Panthers, recording eight goals and 12 assists. Shore was an AHL All-Star in 2013 and represented the United States at the 2014 World Championships.

Knight, 24, has recorded eight goals and four assists for 12 points in 22 games with the AHL’s Adirondack Flames this season. The second-year pro totaled 18 goals and 27 assists for 45 points in 70 games as a rookie with Abbotsford last season.

Knight made his National Hockey League debut on Mar. 5, 2014, with Calgary and has recorded one goal in nine career NHL games. The Oliver, B.C., native was selected by Florida in the fifth round (135th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

A standout at the University of North Dakota, Knight was one of 10 players named finalists for the Hobey Baker Award in 2013.
